Johnston's Santa Barbara Family Session

Where to start with the Johnston family!?

First, Papa Johnston, aka Tony, is the funniest + goofiest human being we’ve ever met. No really. Parents even go up to him at Disney Land and tell him so! Tony was one of my (Lynds.) first friends when I moved to California back in 2009. He made moving to another state infinitely easier with belly laughs upon belly laughs and was a mentor and friend when I needed one. Fast forward 7 years and our little families ended up in the same town! Tony is married to the love-of-his-life, Mama Johnston, aka Heather. They are the ying to each others yang and have created two of the sweetest, and also hilarious, little boys - Knox and Colt. Together they are Team Ventura Johnston!

From our combined million years of ocean lifeguarding together, to marriages and raising family’s, the Thornton's and Johnson's have become great friends over the years. Tony, Heather, Knox and Colt are an adventurous crew, and we may or may not have convinced them to buy their very own ’86 Westfalia the night before we met them for this shoot! 

When discussing the location and vibe for their family photos, we definitely wanted to keep true to their laid back style and adventurous spirits. Outdoors and casual were a must. We decided on one of our favorite spots in Santa Barbara, perfect for kids and mighty picturesque! 

Capturing this awesome family was, of course, so fun! Can't wait for next time when Filmore (their van) can join us!
